Cultural encounters, scenic drives through traditional villages, and visits to historical sites enrich the experience, giving you insight into the local way of life.
Your adventure concludes along the Atlantic coast in Kribi, where rainforest meets the ocean. From canoe rides along the Lobé River to relaxing on golden beaches, this tour perfectly combines wildlife, culture, and relaxation, making it a must-do for anyone interested in gorilla trekking Cameroon.
Upon arrival at Douala International Airport, you will be welcomed by our staff and transferred to your hotel in a private vehicle. After check-in, you will meet your guide in the hotel lobby for a briefing to finalize the next day’s program. Dinner will be served at the hotel restaurant.
We leave Douala early in the morning for a 250 km journey, approximately 5 hours—toward Campo Ma’an. The road from Douala to Kribi offers a beautiful rainforest landscape with traditional village architecture that provides insight into daily life. Along the way, we stop at historical points of interest such as the German colonial-era bridge, which offers panoramic views of the hydroelectric dam and the aluminum plant.
Today you experience the excitement of gorilla trekking in Campo Ma’an National Park. A habituated group of gorillas resides on the Dipikar Islands, allowing visitors the rare opportunity to observe them closely. The park is also home to diverse wildlife including red river hogs, chimpanzees, elephants, pangolins, monkeys, and several antelope species. This is a unique chance to explore one of Africa’s richest biodiversity hotspots.
We embark on a second gorilla trek on the islands. Just like the day before, we follow gorilla traces through the forest until we get close to the group. Along the trail, there are great chances to encounter other wildlife such as monkeys, chimpanzees, antelopes, and a wide range of birds. We return to the lodge in the afternoon for dinner and overnight.
After an early departure from Campo, we travel back toward Kribi via dirt and forest roads. One of the highlights along the way is the fishing village of Ebodje, where we visit the turtle nesting site (active from November to March), the turtle museum, the beaches, and the Wolf Rock area. As we approach Kribi, we make a stop at the newly developed seaport. By late afternoon, we arrive in Kribi and enjoy a relaxing evening on the hotel’s private beach.
After breakfast, we head to the Lobe River harbor and board a canoe for a peaceful ride along the river. This journey is especially enjoyable for bird lovers, as the forested riverbanks offer excellent opportunities for birdwatching and photography.
Depending on your flight schedule, we leave Kribi early for the three-hour drive to Douala. If time permits, we take a short city tour to discover the colorful markets, commercial district, and craft center before heading to the airport for your return flight. End of tour.
