This adventure is designed for travelers seeking both challenge and beauty.
Your Mount Cameroon hiking tour begins with a warm welcome from our experienced local guides, who will prepare you for the ascent and ensure you have everything needed for a safe and exciting climb. Along the trail, you’ll encounter diverse ecosystems, rare wildlife, and the rich cultural heritage of the Bakweri communities living at the base of the mountain.

As you climb higher, the terrain transitions from rainforest to savannah and finally to rugged volcanic slopes. Each step brings a new visual reward and a deeper connection to the region’s geological history. The Mount Cameroon hiking tour offers not only physical adventure but also moments of reflection and breathtaking scenery at every turn.
Reaching the summit is an achievement you’ll remember forever. Standing at 4,095 meters, you’ll enjoy sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean and surrounding landscapes. After descending, relax in the nearby town of Buea where you can unwind, reflect on your adventure, and celebrate the successful completion of a truly extraordinary journey. Cameroon is calling your name.
Upon arrival at Douala International Airport, you will be met by our representative and transferred to Buea, located approximately 75 km from the city. Nestled at the foot of Mount Cameroon, Buea serves as the ideal base for your upcoming trek. Upon arrival, you will check in at Chariot Hotel and spend the evening at leisure preparing for the adventure ahead.
After breakfast, we proceed to the Mount Cameroon National Park office to secure entry permits and gather all necessary trekking equipment. A team of porters, a cook, and a certified eco-guide will accompany you on the climb. Mount Cameroon, the highest peak in West and Central Africa and the second highest in sub-Saharan Africa after Kilimanjaro, is an active volcano that last erupted in 1999. Known by ancient Carthaginian explorers as the “Chariot of the Gods,” the climb is physically demanding, taking you through diverse terrains including the Upper Farm (1090 m), dense rainforest, rocky volcanic slopes, and open savannah. Bird lovers will have the chance to spot various species, including the endemic Mount Cameroon Francolin. Overnight is spent in a mountain hut.
After an early breakfast, the ascent continues toward the summit, which is roughly three hours from the camping area. Standing at 4,090 m, the summit of Mount Cameroon is characterized by cold temperatures between 0°C and 8°C and strong morning winds. After taking in the panoramic views, we begin the descent back to the base. Upon arrival, climbers may receive summit certificates (if available). We then drive back to Douala, arriving in the afternoon. Time permitting, we visit a local handicraft market before transferring to the airport for your return flight. End of tour.
