Upon arrival, you will be warmly welcomed and picked up at the airport for an express tour of the city of Kigali before taking the road to Musanze. This brief excursion will offer you a captivating overview of the Rwandan capital, from its bustling streets and colorful markets to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, to the green hills that the "Land of a Thousand Hills" is famous for. You'll discover a clean, modern and vibrant city where history, culture and resilience blend, before continuing your journey through the beautiful hilly landscapes of Rwanda towards Musanze.
In the evening, you will make yourself comfortable for the night at the Gorilla Volcano Hotel, where comfort is combined with a breathtaking view of the majestic volcanoes of Virunga.
Today, we'll set off on the thrilling hike of Mount Bisoke, one of the most spectacular volcanoes in the Virunga range. Standing at 3,711 meters above sea level, the Bisoke offers an ascent through dense bamboo forests and misty alpine meadows, home to golden monkeys, colorful birds, and, with a bit of luck, a glimpse of mountain gorillas. At the top, you'll be rewarded with stunning views of a crater lake surrounded by awe-inspiring panoramas of the surrounding volcanoes and valleys. After breakfast, set off on a captivating tour of the Dian Fossey Campus, where you'll learn about the pioneering work of this renowned primatologist as well as Rwanda's ongoing efforts to protect mountain gorillas. Then continue to Gorilla Guardians Village for an immersive cultural experience showcasing traditional Rwandan music, dance, crafts, and lifestyle. In the afternoon, enjoy a peaceful boat ride on the twin lakes Burera and Ruhondo, surrounded by spectacular volcanic scenery and charming fishing communities.
