This day will be dedicated to discovering the vibrant culture and history of Kinshasa, with a city tour, in which we will explore the places of greatest interest, the most attractive and bustling markets, and the lively and always interesting banks of the hectic Congo River. Always accompanied by a local guide, we will discover many of the stories behind many corners, as we run from the Independance Square to the Mausoleum of Kabila. We will also explore another incredibly unique aspect of Kinshasa, the Sapeurs or the Sape, in its abbreviated form, a movement that revolves around the Society of Air Fresheners and Elegant People, also known as Congolese dandies, for whom physical appearance and dress are of paramount importance. After lunch in a genuine restaurant overlooking the river, we will return to our vehicle to finish the tour by exploring the national museum for a deep learning after the DR Congo history and culture. Overnight at your hotel in Kinshasa.
In the morning, you will start by discovering the Kuba mask dance, which is one of the most beautiful and sophisticated dance traditions in Africa. The Kuba Mask Dance is a mesmerizing spectacle of vibrant colors, intricate choreography, and profound cultural significance. Witnessing this captivating performance offers a unique glimpse into the rich history, beliefs, and artistic expressions of the Kuba people, leaving an indelible impression.
After the Kuba mask dance, we will attend the Kinshasa Voodoo Wrestling. This one-of-a-kind wrestling style incorporates feats of strength, acrobatics, and the power of voodoo rituals. Wrestlers, who are frequently linked to particular voodoo sects, perform ceremonies before each match to improve their physical and mental prowess. The matches themselves are a spectacle of acrobatics, astounding leaps, throws, and various fighting techniques, with some wrestlers even incorporating magic to overpower their opponents. Beyond the entertainment, voodoo wrestling holds cultural significance in Congo. Overnight at Sultani Hotel.
You will leave too early from your hotel in Kinshasa to Kisantu. It takes 3 to 4 hours to reach Kisantu in the Kongo-Central where the Kisantu botanical garden and Zongo waterfalls are located. It was founded over a century ago by a missionary. Inside, you will find thousands of trees, thousands of plants, a school and the best restaurant in Kisantu. While wandering around you will spot a crocodile and two monkeys.
